Things I learned over the weekend

We went to some interesting seminars over the weekend sponsored by Nefesh B'Nefesh. Some things I learned:
  • Ulpan is for 5 days, 5 hours a week, for 5 months. I'm not sure what I thought it would be, but that sounds pretty intensive. For someone who has been home for 9 years with no set routine, that's an awful lot of time to sit in one place. But I am looking forward to having a set routine.
  • Be aware that government officers are overworked and underpaid. Although this seems pretty obvious, I think that remembering this often will help me through the bureaucratic process.

That's all for now.

Hi. i found you through Chayyei Sarah. I made aliyah with my 4 kids a year and a half ago (July 2003) and took ulpan for 6 months. Intensive was not the word!! I never thought I would make it...But i did and now I speak hebrew. Good luck. Have no expectations...

Thanks for your comment. I've actually been reading your blog for a couple of months now (but haven't commented, sorry!) Good luck with your decision-making!
